How To Destroy Everything

This is the true story of Richard Jacobs – a narcissist who destroyed a childhood, a marriage, a family, and a community. He sued every sentient being on the face of the earth, got banned from restaurants, and inspired a support group composed solely of people he traumatized. He stole notary stamps, hacked emails, forged signatures… and won a U.S. Supreme Court case. He was also my dad. Join us each week as hosts Danny Jacobs and Darren Grodsky will shift between past and present to explore the lasting impact of Richard Jacobs. Love! (But the ad placement 😒)

I’m a St. Louis native, and I love both seasons so much. But! I feel compelled to ask: Why do podcast networks ruin the listening experience of great shows like this with terrible ad placement? Not Danny’s or Darren’s fault. Ads literally in the middle of speakers’ sentences during the show.

Danny I could not stop listening to your podcast about your Dad… oh my gosh it is all so unreal. Loved the structure of this but especially can I just HUG SANDY!!! What a sweet and kind soul, my heart breaks when I hear those stories. 🙏❤️ You are a lucky person to have such a sweet Mom and she is such a trooper to be going through this for all of us listeners. Thank you a forever fan in Minnesota… Kathy
Fascinating and well told — both

I love both the How to Destroy and Toughen Up. You guys are great tellers of your histories. Thank you. I hope to see your stories one day in movies.
Guess you just had to be there…

This whole thing feels like a brain dump conversation between the hosts and the mom. Random stories here and there that bounce between timeframes followed by an exhaustive unpacking of how it emotionally affected those intimately involved. This podcast has no clear timeline or beginning, middle and end. Just a scattered array of mildly entertaining stories with entirely too much commentary and the expectation that we can empathize based on nothing but loose storytelling.
